“Let Your Kingdom Come” is a demo recording of a song that I wrote yesterday with Rocky Favia, Jr. Our church is starting a 13-week sermon series this Sunday called “Kingdom Come”. As part of my work at the church I designed all of the artwork for our series (bulletin covers and background images for the screen). I’m pretty sure that the sermon series was a pretty significant inspiration for the song, because I couldn’t get that simple prayer out of my mind…

“Let Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…”

I laid down a quick version of an idea I had for the chorus on my handy iPhone recorder and then finished my work for the sermon series. Yesterday Rocky and I got together for a songwriting session and I pulled the idea out from my iPhone. A couple of hours (and a couple cups of coffee) later and we had a song. This is not a final version of the song. It is just a demo that I recorded today. So far I am playing all of the instruments and I put a rough mix together, but it is not at all finished. I definitely plan to add at least a keyboard (piano), electric guitar, shaker, and background vocals. I definitely like the overall feel of the song and wanted to share it as is.
